Endfield's Personal Device item type covers exactly seven items. They all occupy the same slot: the personal device slot of the Backpack. The game gives them two jobs — keeping Blight Miasma off you in the North Wuling Exclusion Zone, and hauling salvage off the ground.
The category is short, and easy to get lost in, because the item records read like templates. Six of the seven print "Place it in the personal device slot of the Backpack to..." and then stop. There is no stat block, no ingredient list, and on the base Xiranite Nexus, no number at all. The tables below collect what the records actually say. Where something is missing, this page says it is missing instead of filling the hole in.
What a personal device is
All seven items share one type label, "Personal Device", and one rarity band that runs from 3★ to 5★. Nothing about them scales with operator level, and none of them exist as gear for a character — they act on the player while exploring. The two lines inside the type do not overlap: the Nexus line only touches Blight Miasma, and the Aero-Salvager line only touches salvage.
| Device | Rarity | What the item record says it does |
|---|---|---|
| Xiranite Nexus | ★★★★★ | Blight Miasma protection in the North Wuling Exclusion Zone. No numeric tolerance is printed on this record. |
| Xiranite Nexus XC-Ⅰ | ★★★★★ | Same protection, and raises Blight Miasma Tolerance to 450. |
| Xiranite Nexus XC-Ⅱ | ★★★★★ | Same protection, and raises Blight Miasma Tolerance to 600. |
| Blight Miasma Scanner Plugin | ★★★★ | Expands Xiranite Nexus scanning range and speeds up scanning actions. |
| Aero-Salvager Ⅰ | ★★★ | Lifts and salvages small items. |
| Aero-Salvager Ⅱ | ★★★★ | Lifts and salvages small to medium-sized items. |
| Aero-Salvager Ⅲ | ★★★★★ | Lifts and salvages small, medium and large items. |
The wording in that table is quoted from the item records, trimmed to the useful part. The full template line for the Nexus devices is "Place this device in the Backpack personal device slot for Blight Miasma protection in the North Wuling Exclusion Zone."
The Xiranite Nexus line and Blight Miasma tolerance
This is the upgrade path people search for. The base Xiranite Nexus gives Blight Miasma protection but prints no tolerance value. The next two steps do:
| Device | Rarity | Blight Miasma Tolerance | Crafting formula in the data? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xiranite Nexus | ★★★★★ | Not printed on the item record | None |
| Xiranite Nexus XC-Ⅰ | ★★★★★ | 450 | Yes |
| Xiranite Nexus XC-Ⅱ | ★★★★★ | 600 | Yes |
So asking "how do I upgrade the Xiranite Nexus" has a data-backed answer up to a point. The XC-Ⅰ and XC-Ⅱ records raise the tolerance figure to 450 and 600 respectively, and both have a crafting formula. What the game data does not contain is the base Nexus tolerance figure, so a before-and-after comparison stops at the 450 floor. If you are comparing the three in-game, treat 450 as the second step rather than the starting point.
The Scanner Plugin is a support piece rather than a tier. It does not change protection; it extends the Nexus scanning range and speeds up scanning actions, which makes it the odd one out in a line otherwise defined by a single number.
The Aero-Salvager line
The second line is about carrying things, and it is a clean ladder: each step adds a size class.
| Device | Rarity | Item sizes it can lift | Crafting formula in the data? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aero-Salvager Ⅰ | ★★★ | Small | Yes |
| Aero-Salvager Ⅱ | ★★★★ | Small and medium | Yes |
| Aero-Salvager Ⅲ | ★★★★★ | Small, medium and large | Yes |
Unlike the Nexus line, all three Aero-Salvagers have a formula, so the ladder is craftable end to end. The game also tracks it with an Engraved Medal named simply Aero-Salvager. That medal and its neighbours sit in the Wuling achievement group; our medal record stores only the name, so the unlock condition is not in this data set.
How to craft them
Six of the seven devices have a Formula Unlock entry. They follow the house pattern exactly: the item name is "Formula: (device)", and the description is one line, "A crafting formula for (device)."
The obvious gap here is ingredients. A Formula Unlock entry in this game data tells you which item becomes craftable and nothing about what it costs. For the recipes that do list inputs, the System Blueprint tables in our AIC blueprints guide are the reference; those are the ones that write the input-to-output pair into the description.
The one device with no formula in the data is the base Xiranite Nexus. That is worth stating plainly rather than assuming it is craftable like its two upgraded versions.
Where they are used
The devices only matter in the region that introduced them, and the version notes spell that out:
- July 16, 2026 ([Homecoming]) — "New Area [Wuling - Yinglung Pass], [Wuling - North Wuling Exclusion Zone]."
- July 16, 2026 — "Added the [Aero-Salvaging] game mode, allowing you to complete aero-salvaging challenges in [Wuling - Yinglung Pass] and [Wuling - North Wuling Exclusion Zone]."
- July 16, 2026 — "New [Talosite Exchange] Feature: You can now gather special energy crystals known as Talosites in [Wuling - Yinglung Pass] and [Wuling - North Wuling Exclusion Zone], then exchange them in [Talosite Exchange] for rewards such as [Gear Templates], [Ornamentals], [Camera Poses], and [Vinyls]."
- September 2, 2026 ([Dreamscape of Wind and Snow]) — "[Talosite Exchange] exchangeable items updated, with new items such as [Personal Device], [Ornamental], [Camera Pose], [Vinyl], and more."
That last note is the only official line that touches how you get a device directly. Talosite Exchange is confirmed as a source of Personal Devices as a category, but the game data does not map any individual device to a source, so this page cannot tell you which device comes from where.
For the wider region, the official notes for the same version also mention new gatherable resources Inergen and Xiragen whose vents open up as main missions progress, and a rare plant gathering site in [Wuling - Wuling City]. The Aero-Salvaging challenges and the Nexus protection are the two systems built specifically around this area.
Blightshade enemies
Blight Miasma is not just a hazard meter. The zone is populated by a Blightshade family with eight named members, and the salvage-and-protection loop runs alongside fighting them.
| Blightshade | Enemy record |
|---|---|
| Blitzcrash Blightshade | eny_0120_klbear |
| Quillbeast Blightshade | eny_0118_klhog |
| Rakerbeast Blightshade | eny_0119_kltiger |
| Tuskbeast Blightshade | eny_0117_klhound |
| YSTF Captain Blightshade | eny_0124_kltdcap |
| YSTF Elite Blightshade | eny_0122_kltdbud |
| YSTF Glaiver Blightshade | eny_0123_klcap |
| YSTF Vanguard Blightshade | eny_0121_klbud |
Two material records are tied to this family. Blightshade Bezoar is "Gatherable from defeated Tuskbeast Blightshades, Quillbeast Blightshades, and Rakerbeast Blightshades", and feeds fine food and medicine crafting. Specimen: Blighted Armorscale comes from Aberrant Zone 1 auto-vendors and is a commission submission. The Wuling achievement group also carries a medal called Superactive Blight Eliminator; like the Aero-Salvager medal, only its name is in the data.
One naming trap is worth flagging while you are here. The Valley's own Aberrant Zone tech includes Derangement Tolerance Chip 1 and Chip 2, which "raise tolerance to ambient Derangement". That is a different system in a different region. Blight Miasma and Derangement are separate hazards with separate protection, so a personal device will not help you there.
What this data does not cover
- Crafting ingredients. All six device formulas give the item and nothing else. No input list, no Sanity cost.
- The base tolerance number. The original Xiranite Nexus record prints protection but no figure, so 450 is the first hard number in the line.
- Per-device sources. Talosite Exchange is officially named as a source of Personal Devices in general, but no device is mapped to it in the data.
- Drop rates and locations. The Blightshade records carry names and nothing else — the same field gaps that affect the rest of this site's enemy database.
- Medal unlock conditions. Aero-Salvager and Superactive Blight Eliminator store only their names.
If you want the surrounding systems instead, the farming guide covers the Growth Chamber and plots, the base facilities guide covers the factory side, and the enemy drops guide covers which enemy drops which material. You can also browse every device on one page at items filtered to Personal Device.
