Endfield's plant system looks small until you count what it feeds. Fungi push operators past level caps. Crystal plants pay for skill levels and skill mastery. Special minerals tune weapons at Lv.20, Lv.40, Lv.60 and Lv.80. And the six plain plants that most players walk past are the raw material behind food, medicine, Industrial Explosives and a long list of factory intermediates.

Everything below is pulled from the game's own item records, so you can check any number against the item pages linked in the tables. Where the data runs out, the article says so instead of guessing.

The loop in one line: gather a wild plant, pull seeds from it by hand or with a Seed-Picking Unit, plant the seeds in the matching plot, water and fertilize while it grows, harvest, then shred the harvest into recipes or feed it straight into operator and weapon progression.

How the loop runs

  • Gather or pick. Common plants and the four crops can be found in the wild. A Seed-Picking Unit turns a harvested crop into its seed item, and leaves Plant Matter behind.
  • Unlock the plot. Every plant has its own plot, and the plot is itself a recipe you have to unlock before you can build it. Ten field plots exist, each with a matching Formula Unlock entry.
  • Plant and grow. Drop a seed into the plot and let it ripen. Growth Chamber plants (fungi, crystal plants, special minerals) use their own seeds and their own venue rather than a field plot.
  • Water and fertilize. Sprinklers with fluid plumbing do the watering automatically, and fertilizer shortens the growth phase.
  • Harvest and use. Field plots hand over the plant in bulk and can roll a rarer sibling on top. Growth Chamber plants go straight into progression.

Every plot and what it harvests

Ten field plots, one per plant. Six grow the low-rarity plants that feed food, medicine and the factory. The other four only produce crops that take fine cultivation. Three plots also roll a chance at a rarer variant on top of the normal harvest.

Each plot is locked behind its own formula item: Aketine Plot, Jincao Plot, Yazhen Plot, Buckflower Plot, Citrome Plot, Sandleaf Plot, Reed Rye Plot, Tartpepper Plot, Redjade Ginseng Plot, Amber Rice Plot. The plot and its formula are separate entries, so owning the plant is not enough to build the plot.

Simulated plots

Four of the plots have a SIM version: Jincao Plot (SIM), Yazhen Plot (SIM), Redjade Ginseng Plot (SIM), Amber Rice Plot (SIM). They grow faster than the real plot and return the same plant, with no bonus-variant roll. They are the better pick when you need volume of the base plant rather than a shot at the rarer one.

The three facilities behind the plots

Field farming leans on three buildings, and each one is a template the Protocol Automation-Core has to learn before it can construct anything.

FacilityWhat it doesUnlock
Planting UnitA cultivating silo for growing various common plants and crops.Constructed from the Planting Unit Template. Fluid Mode is a separate unlock. Planting Unit Template
Seed-Picking UnitA facility that extracts seeds from common crops.Constructed from the Seed-Picking Unit Template. Seed-Picking Unit Template
SprinklerA facility that sprays fluids in a fixed direction.Constructed from the Sprinkler Template. Pairs with pipes and Fluid Pumps to water plots for you. Sprinkler Template

The loop they form is the one the factory stage describes: use the Planting Unit and Seed-Picking Unit together to run a self-sufficient plant production loop, then let pipes, Fluid Pumps and Sprinklers auto-irrigate the plots.

The Growth Chamber and the special plants

The field plots cover food and materials. Operator and weapon progression is a separate set of seeds, and the item records name the Growth Chamber as where those are cultivated. The update notes place one aboard the OMV Dijiang and a Guest Terminal version on a friend's ship. The site has no facility entry for the Chamber itself, so treat its siting as upstream information rather than something these pages can show.

What the special crops are for

Three families, three progression tracks, and the tier order inside each family is fixed:

  • Fungi promote operators. Pink Bolete covers Lv.20, Red Bolete Lv.40 and Ruby Bolete Lv.60, while Bloodcap, Cosmagaric and Talos Cap all serve Lv.80.
  • Crystal plants upgrade operator skills. Kalkodendra handles skill levels 1 to 3, Chrysodendra 4 to 6 and Vitrodendra 7 to 9. Blighted Jadeleaf, False Aggela and Crimson Spearleaf sit above those three and pay for skill mastery instead.
  • Special minerals tune weapons. Kalkonyx tunes Lv.20 weapons, Auronyx Lv.40 and Umbronyx Lv.60, with Igneosite, Wulingstone and Protocolith all covering Lv.80.

The internal ids split each family into a lower group and a top group, and the top group is always the Lv.80 or mastery tier. Which region each group belongs to is not something the data states, so this guide does not name one.

The seed item for Ruby Bolete reads "Red Boletes can promote Lv.60 operators" while the grown item says "Promotes Lv.60 operators". The mismatch is in the seed text itself.

Jincao Powder, Yazhen Powder, Fluffed Jincao Powder, Thorny Yazhen Powder, Buckflower Powder, Citrome Powder, Firebuckle Powder, Citromix are all tactical items that restore operator HP, and every one of them is pressed from a plant above. Sandleaf Powder is the exception that catches people out: its item type is Material, not Tactical, and it feeds industrial grinding instead of combat. Sandleaf's powder is a factory input, turning up in things like Cryston Fiber and Dense Ferrium Powder. Aketine carries the flammable payload for Industrial Explosives, Citrome lands in canned food, and Jincao and Yazhen drive the food and medicine lines. Firebuckle and Umbraline, the two bonus crops from the Buckflower and Citrome plots, cannot be seeded at all, so the plot roll is the only way to farm them.

Byproducts worth keeping

Plant Matter is what seed-picking leaves behind, and it refines into Carbon rather than being vendor trash. Glowbugs and Scorchbugs are small Originium bugs that powder into other materials, and Wood is the Mossfield region's basic gather. If you are feeding a factory, check all three before you clear your backpack.

Automating the loop with AIC blueprints

Two system blueprints turn farming into something the factory does for you. General Plant Farming takes one unit of any plant that growers can plant and returns an endless supply of that plant. General Hydroponics does the same while also consuming Clean Water, and it accepts any plant the Seed-Picking Unit and Planting Unit can handle. Either one removes the plant bottleneck once it is placed in the Core AIC Area.

Every recipe for those two, and for the rest of the production chains, is in the AIC blueprints and recipes guide.

What upstream updates changed

  • March 2, 2026 — planting got faster across the board: "Shortened the time required for actions such as germinating, watering, fertilizing, and harvesting to reduce wait time." The same pass raised the growth boost from Burdo-Muck fertilizer from 1 minute to 1 hour.
  • March 12, 2026 — teammates became more useful around the Eco-Farm: "Optimized the performance of teammates while planting crops in the Eco-Farm." A separate fix that version covered Production Assist in a friend's Growth Chamber.
  • June 5, 2026 — the Growth Chamber's seed extraction screen lost its maximum and minimum quantity buttons, to cut down on accidental taps.
  • August 22, 2026 — the [Continue Placing] toggle now covers plots as well as facilities and ornamentals, so a whole field can be laid out without leaving placement mode.

What this data does not cover

The site's item records hold names, rarities, descriptions and the plot formulas. They do not hold growth timers, seed drop rates, wild spawn locations or yield numbers per harvest, and there is no facility entry for the Growth Chamber. The level bands above are quoted from item text, not from a datamined table, so treat them as the game's own wording.

For the buildings these plots sit next to, see the base facilities and power grid guide. For the combat-side materials, the enemy drops guide covers which enemy drops what.
