Endfield's Etchspace Salvage mode drops you into the Aberrant Zones, six sealed areas the item records simply call "the Valley's Aberrants". A run is a loot-and-extract trip: kill things for fragments, crack open containers, carry the haul out, hand it in. The database pages show each item on its own, one at a time. This page pulls the whole mode together: what the six zones contain, which containers hold what, and the chip items that change how a run plays.
If the thing you actually want is the enemy-drop fragments, those are already tabulated by enemy family on the enemy drops page. This one is about the containers, the collectibles inside them and the commission and upgrade layer on top.
What Etchspace Salvage is
The mode's name comes straight from the official update notes. The 1.1 notes for Old Deep Water Dies, by Rising Tide It is Denied (2026-03-12) list an "[Etchspace Salvage] Content Update" that adds "[Aberrant Zone 4]", and the At the Wake of Spring notes (2026-04-17) add "[Aberrant Zone 5] and [Aberrant Zone 6]" under the same heading. Both entries end the same way: "Added new operation metrics milestones. Reach the new milestones to earn rewards such as [Oroberyls], [Basic HH Permits], and [Progression Materials]."
The older notes never use the term — there is no entry covering Aberrant Zones 1 to 3, so their release date and any rewards attached to them are not in the site's news archive. The one thing the later notes do confirm is that the mode was extended zone by zone rather than shipped whole.
The in-game vocabulary is spread across the item records rather than gathered in one place, which is why it is easy to miss. "Derangement" appears only on the chips. "Operation metrics" appears on the chips and in the official notes. "Isolation Container" appears only as the thing the Container Expansion Chips grow. And the mode itself is "the Valley's Aberrants" whenever a chip description refers to it.
The six zones at a glance
Counting what the data files hold, each zone yields a fixed set of fragments and a fixed set of collectibles. The fragments scale cleanly (two from regular enemies, one from the boss) with two exceptions worth knowing before you plan a run.
| Zone | Enemy fragments | Boss fragment | Collectibles | Container types |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aberrant Zone 1 | 2 | 1 | 12 | auto-vendors / instrument safes / packages |
| Aberrant Zone 2 | 2 | 1 | 6 | auto-vendors / instrument safes / packages |
| Aberrant Zone 3 | 2 | 2 | 6 | auto-vendors / instrument safes / packages |
| Aberrant Zone 4 | 2 | 1 | 6 | auto-vendors / instrument safes / packages |
| Aberrant Zone 5 | 2 | 1 | 6 | auto-vendors / instrument safes / packages |
| Aberrant Zone 6 | 1 | 1 | 6 | auto-vendors / instrument safes / packages |
Two of those cells do not follow the pattern. Zone 3 has two boss fragments (Axe Armor Fragment and Refractorite Fragment), and Zone 6 has one enemy fragment instead of two. Zone 1 has twelve collectibles rather than six, because it is the only zone the records split by quality.
Three families, three containers
Every collectible belongs to one of three families, and the family maps onto the container it comes from without a single exception across all 42 records. That makes the family the fastest way to know whether a container is worth the trip for you.
| Family | Rarity | Container the record names | Count |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classified | ★★ | packages | 14 |
| Gold Statuette | ★★★ | instrument safes | 14 |
| Specimen | ★★★★ | auto-vendors | 14 |
The distinction matters for commissions. A Classified record and a Gold Statuette record never come out of the same container type; if you are hunting one family, you are hunting one kind of container. The rarity steps line up with the container tiers as well, from 2★ classified records in packages up to 4★ specimens in auto-vendors.
Every collectible, by zone
The full list, grouped by zone and quoted from each record's own "Acquired from..." line. Zones 2 to 6 each carry six: two per container type. Zone 1 carries twelve, twice over, because each container type comes in a white and a green quality version.

The site's item records also carry a second copy of all 42 collectibles with a _d suffix. Same name, same rarity, same description, no gameplay difference that the records show. They look like an artifact of how the source data was assembled, not a second set of items to collect. The enemy drops page notes the same duplication on the fragments.
Handing it all in: commissions
All 42 collectibles, all 11 enemy fragments and all seven boss fragments end their description with the same sentence: "Can be submitted to complete commissions." The official notes name the structure behind that line when they mention "Key Commissions in the [Etchspace Salvage] Exploration Commission" (2026-04-17).
That is as far as the data goes. The records do not say how many of each item a commission asks for, which commissions exist, or what they pay out. The notes confirm the mode's milestone rewards were expanded twice, but only in aggregate terms: [Oroberyls], [Basic HH Permits] and [Progression Materials]. Anything more specific would be a guess, so this page stops here.
The chip upgrades
The 31 chip items are the mode's progression system, and their descriptions are unusually explicit for Endfield: most item text in the game is flavour, but these read like patch notes. Six families of chip touch how a run works, from how much Derangement you can absorb to how much loot your container holds before you extract.
| Purpose | Chip | What the record says |
|---|---|---|
| Operation metrics limit | Higher Operation Metrics | Increases the limit of the operation metrics. |

| Combat chips | Energy Capture Chip | Grants Ultimate Energy by defeating enemies in the Valley's Aberrants. |

| Combat chips | Stress Feedback Chip | Grants faster SP Recovery in the Valley's Aberrants. |
| Combat chips | Tactical Tempo Chip | Recover SP by defeating enemies in the Valley's Aberrants. |
Read together, the chips sketch out the mode's pressure points. Derangement is a meter you manage rather than a stat you ignore, since there are ten chips raising its limit, two more raising tolerance, and one description frames it as "ambient Derangement" that grows over time. Ammunition is a loadout decision, not a given: the Portable Explosives Chips are what let you bring Industrial Explosives, the one combat consumable from the tactical items guide, in at all. And two Nodule Refining Chips convert Precipitation Nodules into more Aurylene on the way out.
The other Valley collection items
Etchspace Salvage is not the only place the Valley hands out collection items, and the names overlap enough to cause confusion. Three more sit outside the mode:
- Aurylene of Valley IV and Aurylene of Wuling (Valley and Wuling) are exploration pickups. Their records say to submit enough of them "at any TP Point" for rewards, which is a different turn-in counter from a commission.
- Talosite (Talosite) is the Wuling equivalent of a trade currency: "Submit enough of them at the Talosite Exchange for rewards."
- Æther Manifest and Æther Manifest Shard (Manifest, Shard) round out the group. Their records carry no description text at all, so what they feed into is not something this data can answer.
Precipitation Nodules, which the Nodule Refining Chips convert into Aurylene, are covered with their own rarity ladder on the enemy drops page.
What this data cannot tell you
Etchspace Salvage is a mode with a lot of moving parts, and the item database is a record of objects rather than a manual. Some specifics are simply absent:
- No container spawn counts or rates. The records name the container type each collectible sits in; they do not say how many spawn per run, or whether quality tiers bias toward higher rarity.
- No commission list. The turn-in structure exists in the text, but the asks and rewards are not itemised anywhere in the data files.
- No zone release dates for Zones 1 to 3. The news archive has entries for Zone 4, 5 and 6 only.
- No difficulty or level figures. Nothing in the records ranks the zones against each other.
- No upgrade costs. The chips state their effects and nothing else.
Counts and descriptions on this page come from the site's own item records. Where the records are silent, this page says so rather than filling the gap.
