Gear is the half of Arknights: Endfield combat prep that does not show up on a character page. Operators get their weapons, but they also wear three pieces of equipment at once, and those pieces come from a crafting line rather than a gacha. The result is 243 pieces of gear split across themed sets, five quality tiers and three slots, plus a whole crafting loop of templates, components and artificing that the game never explains in one place.

This guide walks through the structure the game data actually contains: what the slots are, what the tiers mean, every set and how many pieces it holds, and how templates and components turn into finished gear. Where the data is silent, it says so instead of filling the gap with a guess.

Three slots, 243 pieces

Every gear piece occupies exactly one of three slots. A single operator wears one of each, so a full build is three pieces: one body, one hands, one universal. The universal slot is the broadest by far and holds everything from analyzers to power cores to the bracing slabs you see in set names.

Quality tiers: T0 to T4 is the same as 1โ˜… to 5โ˜…

The tier is encoded in each piece's internal id as a T-number, and it maps one-to-one onto the star rating. There are no mixed tiers: every T0 piece is 1โ˜…, every T4 piece is 5โ˜…, and the wear level climbs with the tier. Most of the catalogue, 152 of 243 pieces, sits at the top tier.

TierStarsPiecesWear level
T0โ˜…4Lv 10
T1โ˜…โ˜…20Lv 20/Lv 28
T2โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…23Lv 36
T3โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…44Lv 50
T4โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…152Lv 60/Lv 70

One naming trap: a trailing T1, T2 or T3 on a piece name is not an upgrade step. Those are alternate variants of the same slot in the same set with different rolls, so "Miner Gloves T2" is a sister piece to "Miner Gloves", not a better version of it. The piece's real tier is the T-number inside its id, and that always matches its star count.

Every gear set

Sets are the reason gear matters. A set groups pieces across the three slots, and the game tracks them by an internal suit id. 23 sets carry that id; a further 43 pieces are ungrouped and covered in the next section. Here is every tagged set, with how many pieces it holds and how they spread across the slots.

A few of these carry names that do not read cleanly. The internal id suit_burst01 covers four 5โ˜… pieces whose names share nothing, Tide Fall Light Armor, Tide Surge Gauntlets, Hanging River O2 Tube and Turbid Cutting Torch, so there is no single set name to give it. Two rows both read AIC because two separate suit ids begin with that word, one covering the alloy-and-heavy line (AIC Alloy Plate, AIC Heavy Armor) and the other the ceramic-and-light line (AIC Ceramic Plate, AIC Light Armor). The two Mordvolt sets split by defence type (Insulation and Resistant), and the two MSGR sets split the same way (Roving and Armored). Those four sit at Lv 36 and Lv 50 rather than the top tier.

The ungrouped pieces

43 pieces have no suit id at all. They are not junk: this bucket holds the starter gear, the entire mining line and the Wuling exploration line. Because they carry no set id, they will not appear on the site's gear sets page, which only lists tagged sets.

Gear templates: one for every piece

Before you can craft a piece of gear, you need its template. In principle the counts line up, 243 templates against 243 pieces, but the mapping in the data is not perfectly one-to-one and it is worth being straight about that. 237 distinct pieces are referenced by a template. Six pieces have no template at all, all high-tier variants including Bonekrusha Figurine, Bonekrusha Poncho, Eternal Xiranite Gloves T1 and Type 50 Yinglung Gloves T1, while six other templates point at a piece that another template already covers. So the practical rule holds, a template is what makes its piece craftable, but a handful of variants cannot be crafted from the indexed templates.

Gear template: "Once acquired, the specified gear can be crafted." That is the full text on all 243 of them, so a template is a permission rather than a recipe. The materials come from elsewhere.

Where templates come from depends on the set. The version notes name three routes:

  • The Talosite Exchange, added in the 1.4 Homecoming notes, where you gather Talosites in Wuling and trade them for rewards that include gear templates.
  • The Arsenal Defense Crate from operator trial events. Reaching the Wuling region unlocks all the templates for that trial operator's gear set automatically.
  • Older gear is unlocked simply by progressing, and the Authority Level rewards described below hand you the components to assemble it.

Our database also indexes the currency and the tool that finds it: Talosite and the Wuling Talosite Probe, which reveals one undiscovered Talosite in the current area once the map is fully charted.

What you assemble gear from

Assembly consumes components. Seven items in the database are explicitly tagged as gear components, and they line up with the materials you produce in the AIC factory.

ComponentStarsIn-game description

Xiranite Componentโ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…A gear component made using various materials. Can be used for gear assembly.

The rare components, Xiranite, Cuprium, Hetonite and Pyrrolite, are the 4โ˜… ones; Amethyst and Ferrium are the cheap starter components. A separate item, the Wuling Artificing Catalyst, is spent on artificing rather than assembly and shows up as an event reward in the 1.5 notes.

Official note, 2026-02-04: reaching Authority Levels 16, 17 and 18 grants [Ferrium Components] for assembling [Blue Quality Gear], and Levels 28, 29 and 30 grant [Cryston Components] for [Purple Quality Gear], with enough handed over to assemble four pieces of that quality.

Note that the version notes name gear by quality colour (Blue, Purple, Gold) while the game data here uses star rarity. This guide keeps the two separate rather than forcing a mapping the data does not state.

Wear level requirements

Every piece has a minimum operator level, and the spread is worth knowing before you plan a build. The overwhelming majority, 143 pieces, need Lv 70. Only the starter gear opens up early.

Gear assembly and artificing, as the notes describe them

The crafting loop gets more convenient every version. These are the changes straight from the official notes, which are the only place any of it is written down:

  • Assembly makes the piece; artificing rolls its stats. The official release preview (2026-01-17) explains that artificing a particular stat builds up stored progress, and hitting the progress cap guarantees the next attempt on that stat will succeed. Using gear marked [Good Match] as the material improves the odds of an immediate success.
  • Assembly techniques. From the 1.4 notes (2026-07-16), gold-quality gear can be assembled with any compatible technique, and using the newest one gives a 99% discount on stock bill consumption.
  • Auto-Artificer and Gear Plans. The 2026-08-22 notes add an Auto-Artificer tab that filters gear for the stat you are rolling and feeds it in one piece at a time, and a Gear Plan feature that switches a whole set of gear in one click.
  • Bulk artificing. From 2026-06-05, you can queue every unartificed piece as material and let artificing run until it succeeds.
  • Batch assembly. The 2026-04-17 notes add a Gear Assembly button on the operator screen and a batch mode that makes several pieces at once.

Which sets arrived in which version

Every version that touched gear lists its additions in the update notes. This is the run of them, using the exact set names the notes use.

2026-09-021.5 Dreamscape of Wind and SnowNew set Deep Rampart; new pieces for AIC Fieldwork, Tide Surge and Eternal Xiranite

One gap to flag: the 1.5 notes name a set called Deep Rampart, but no piece with that name exists in the equipment data we index yet. Either its pieces are named differently on import or the set has not landed in the data source, so treat that set as announced but not yet documented here.

What this data does not cover

Two honest limits. First, gear attribute names. The game's internal attribute ids for gear do not map cleanly onto readable stat names in the source data, so this guide deliberately reports piece counts, slots, tiers and sets rather than claiming any piece gives a specific stat value. When that mapping is resolved, it will be worth a follow-up. Second, drop and shop details: the template descriptions carry no source line, so which enemy or vendor hands over a given template is not something the current data can answer.

Two guides sit either side of this one. The AIC blueprints and recipes guide covers the factory that produces the components you assemble gear from, and the base facilities and power grid guide covers where those machines live. You can browse every tagged set on the gear sets page or look up individual pieces from the equipment index.
